8tickers - A small screener for undervalued stocks

Notes on 8tickers.com, a free stock and crypto screener I built to find undervalued companies.

#Project#Finance

Sometimes I spend some time trying to find undervalued companies. And usually as a result I have a lot of open tabs with lists, individual ticker details pages and charts. So as a result, I decided to make my own service for this, so that I will have most of that on one screen. So I made 8tickers.com.

What it does

It's a screener for publicly traded stocks and cryptocurrencies. You can pick your favorite fundamentals and get back a ranked list of tickers that match filter criteria. Besides this I added the ability to open ticker details in a modal rather than on a new page. And also I implemented a generalized scoring for value, growth and momentum characteristics for all stocks.

The screening uses more than 120 fundamental metrics: P/E, dividend yield, ROE, market cap, debt, growth, and so on. When you find a filter combination that works, you can save it as a pick and open it again later. Also I added watchlists to track specific tickers and get a notification when a price crosses a value which I configure.

There is also an earnings calendar. It shows who is reporting, the estimates, and the beat or miss once the results come out. An economic calendar covers macro events, with filters by importance and actual-versus-forecast numbers. There is also a financial news feed.

It's free, you don't need an account to browse, and the data refreshes every 20 minutes. The interface is in English and Ukrainian.

Why I built it

I wanted a tool which will take ten thousand companies and narrow them to a short list worth reading about. It replaces the spreadsheet step, not a full professional terminal.

This is a personal project, but I maintain it carefully so far, and it is fully covered with tests. The data comes from public financial data providers. I keep it as current as I can, so I invite you to try it.

It's live at 8tickers.com. Use the screener without email and try to find some interesting stocks.
